Eva Creighton, 81, Dies

Miss Eva Creighton, 81, a Fairfield woman who spent many years in Chicago, died at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday at Memorial Hospital.

Miss Creighton had been in declining health.  She was admitted to the hospital in mid-September.  She was an aunt to Mrs. Ulla (Opal) Musgrave, of Fairfield.

Services Friday

Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Nales Funeral Home, with Rev. B. R. Cummins officiating.  Burial will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery north of the Merriam crossroads.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday (tonight).

Miss Creighton was born in Wayne County, near Fairfield, Jan. 27, 1898, the daughter of John M. and Ruth (Whitacre) Creighton.

Taught School

She moved to Fairfield with her parents in 1916.  She taught school in rural districts in Wayne County for two years and taught school one year at Fairfield Grade School.  In 1922, she moved with her parents to Carbondale.

In 1923, she moved to Oak Park and was employed by the Continental Illinois National Bank & Trust Co. of Chicago.  She retired in 1960 after 37 years of service.

Miss Creighton returned to Fairfield in 1967.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and an honorary member of the Eastern Star Lodge No. 462.

The Survivors

Surviving are two brothers, Jim Creighton, of Las Vegas, Nev., and Jacob Creighton, of Dallas, Tex., one sister Mrs. Henry (Emma) Puckett, of Madison, Tenn., several nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Musgrave.

Preceding her in death were four brothers, Milton Walter, William C., Orin M. and Olin C., and four sisters, Melvina Sunderland, Bessie Grice, Miss Carrie Lee Creighton and Jesse Ann Crews.
