WWI DRAFT CARD REGISTRATION
Wayne County, Illinois

This file was created, transcribed, and submitted by several people on the M-Team (M=MILITARY). Thanks, M-Team for all your long hours and hard work!

INFORMATION FOR FIRST TIME RESEARCHERS

There were over 4000 men that registered for the WW1 draft in Wayne County. About 20% were actually drafted. If a man was already in a branch of the armed services, he was not required to register and therefore, his name will not be found in the Draft Registration Cards list.

Sometimes the date of birth was not correct or too hard to read. For those that were not correct, his date will be displayed as UNK. (Note: One man listed his date of birth as 1917, but was filling out his registration in 1917-1918!)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THE CARD

Additional information on the card may include middle name, occupation, employer, employer’s address, next of kin, prior military service, physical disability, a general physical description.
