Land Deed

This is a transcription of a deed of my GG Grandparents Charles W. and Susan (Hunsinger) Atteberry, who are back and forth between Wayne and White Counties, Illinois.
They resided near Burnt Prairie. Charles signed the deed while his wife Susan made her mark.

       This indenture made and entered into this thirteenth day of October one thousand eight hundred and forty eight Between Charles W. Attebery and Susan Attebery his wife of the County of Wayne and State of Illinois of the first part and Silas Wilson of the County and State aforesaid of the second part. Witnesseth that the said party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of One hundred dollars to them in hand paid the receipt where of is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold unto the sd party of the second part his heirs or assigns the following described lot of land or parcel of ground lying and being in the County of Wain and State of Ills - described as follows to wit:
     being the North west quarter of the North west quarter of section No. 8. in township No. 3. Range No. 8 E. Containing forty acres more or less.
To have and to hold the above described lot of land with all the apertenances thereunto belonging unto the sd party of the second part......

          This day personally appeared before the undersigned a Justice of the Peace in and for said County Charles W. Atteberry and Susan his wife who is personally known to said Justice to be the real persons who executed the foregoing deed of conveyance and has there before said Justice acknowledged that that they signed said deed freely and voluntarily for the uses and purposes therein mentioned.
            The said Susan the wife of the said Charles W. Atteberry being examined seprate and apart from her said husband and being made a guarantee with the context of said deed acknowledged that she signed said deed freely and voluntarily for the uses and purposes therein mentioned without fear or compullsion of her said husband.
