Welcome to the Eleanor (Kenshalo) Baker Coverlet Photo Album page.

Lois writes  -
This coverlet was made by Eleanor (Kenshalo) Baker, wife of John Dunlap Baker, in 1855 in Wayne Co., IL.  John and Eleanor raised sheep on their farm.  John sheared the sheep and Eleanor carded the wool and spun it into thread. She dyed the thread red, white and blue.  Then she wove it into a coverlet on a loom.  It won first place at the first Wayne County Fair in 1855.
