That's Dennis Harrison, sitting on a Plymouth which
belonged to his aunt and uncle, Helen and Charles Multer. He was seven
years old when the picture was taken. Harrison, who lived north of Wayne
City, passed away in 1993.

Fire heavily damages the Myrtle Carrell home
on West College.
Wayne County's elderly must apply annually
for their $1500 homestead tax exemption. Around 1200 senior citizens are
involved.
A new ceramic boutique shop is opening at
105 Elm Street. A group of hobbyists are involved.
A state Dept. of Agriculture expert talks
to city and county leaders on steps coming in the future to control pollution
down even to the level of the feedlot farmer.
The Press says the Boyleston water system
will hopefully be completed in 30 days time.
Some changes are coming in the county 4-H
program, which currently has membership of over 500 boys and girls, up
from 291 just two years ago.
The group pushing Fairfield as a new country
music center adopt a name of "Stars of Country Music" for their operation
here.
The Harold Austin home south of Sims is badly
damaged by fire.
Ronnie Ellis, a Press paper boy, is hurt when
his bicycle collides with a parked car.
Rev. Chester Hout, pastor of Ellen Moore United
Methodist Church, will speak at the Fairfield union Thanksgiving service.
Fairfield stores will be open nights to eight
o'clock for the Christmas season, beginning Dec. 4.
Mrs. Sue Odum is elected treasurer of a newly
formed Wabash Valley Association of Teachers of English.
Stewart Curry, a former Fairfield resident,
now of Crawfordsville, Ind., suffers a heart attack.

Fairfield's temperature dips to a cold 12 degrees
but still no snow here.
Coach Tom Murphy's Cisne Lions win their third
straight.
The Press publishes a page of photos of contestants
for the Lions "Miss Fairfield" festival.
Miss Denise Schoenborn is crowned as the new
"Miss Fairfield." Runners-up are Jill Musgrave and Barbara Robinson.
Two Mt. Carmel men take first option to buy
the Holiday Ranch Motel at the west end of Fairfield.
Five persons are injured in a head-on crash
at the Koontz Cemetery hill south of Fairfield.
Charles Shepard, of Mt. Erie, is hurt in a
farm accident while hauling hay.
Fairfield temperatures range from 12 to 64.
The state condemns the Wayne County Jail as
a fire trap; other area jails at Carmi, Mt. Carmel and Albion are also
criticized.
FCHS students will offer a play in January.
Bruce Dawson, Margaret Gabbard, Stephanie Meyer and Rick Wheat head the
cast.
Vicki Buchanan, a student at McKendree College,
is a sophomore homecoming attendant Wallace Young, a retired
farmer, dies at the Flora hospital.
