Note: The list of names has been changed around to make it alphabetical. The spellings are the same as they appear in the paper
Wayne's Kansas Colony.
EDITOR PRESS: As I promised you a list of the names of persons I found
near Logan, Phillips county, Kansas, that had emigrated from this county,I
will now try and give you the names of the heads of families and young
men who are of the age of twenty-one years and owning claims:
James Bane
Richard Beason Wm. C. Borah two Browns Joseph Craven H. D. Craven George Davis Thomas Dye, Jr. Thomas Dye, Sr. Martin Dye Wm. Dye Walace Emmons Wm.Farley Wm. Graham Bazell Hill David Hill James Hill John Hill Thomas Hill James McKitrick Harrison Mount Sarah Porter Wm. L. Porter H. D. Raven ----- Shirley John Sill Edward Simms Dempsey Smith Ritner Smith Wm. Spriggs,Jr. Wm. Spriggs, Sr. James States Wm. T. Tappin John Walton Wm. I.Weddell James Whitson Jesse Whitson George Wilkinson John A. Wilson John J. N. Wilson Robert Young |
All of the above expect to make their living by farming except James Whitson, blacksmith; John Sell, carpenter; Wm. L. Porter, school teacher. With but few exception, they all appear well satisfied. Since I was there John Yarnall has joined this colony making the number 43. Some of them say there are 'so many Wayne county folks out there that they think you are publishing your paper in the wrong place. They think you should be out there among them.

[These Pilgrims can partially remedy this by largely increasing the
number of Logan county names on our subscription list.]
