Some of Peter's family members migrated to Wayne Co., IL.
Therefore, he has ties to Wayne County.
Peter Shull, my GGGG Grandfather, was the son of Philip Peter
and Elizabeth Catherine (Welker) Scholl. Peter's parents were from
Germany and settled in Pennsylvania no later than 1750.
Peter Shull was born 11 Jan 1761, Frederick Co. MD. Died 22 Nov 1834
in Henderson CO. KY and is buried in White Co. IL, His grave is marked
as a Revolutionary War Patriot. (Affadavit of son Peter Shull). He married
March 1782 in Pennsylvania, Anna Dorothea Kinsley, b. ca 1765, PA,
died 02 Jan 1849, Ohio Co. KY.
Peter Shull served as a Private in the American Revolution in the winter
of 1777 and 1778. At this time he was residing in McAllister, York CO.
PA.
Peter served two months in Capt. Frederick Cutts Company. Two months
in Capt. Celwin's Company in Col. Albright's Regiment.
He served two months under Maj. Bailey guarding prisoners and six and
a half months in Capt. Patton's Company which was in Col. Rubley's Regiment.
Peter Shull was pensioned for his Revolutionary War Service on 5 September
1832 while he was living in White County, Illinois.
Dorothy applied for a widow's pension on 29 April 1841 in Muhlenberg
CO. KY. She stated her marriage date, the fact that Peter died in Ky and
that she had remained a widow, aged 76 years old.
Pension #W9289, was awarded Peter's wife and her surviving children:
Peter Shull and Samuel Shull of Ohio CO. Ky; Mrs. Elizabeth Huntsinger
and Mrs. Catherine Bottoms of White CO. IL; and Mary M. Huntsucker. (Mary
M. Huntsucker died prior to 1852, leaving heirs, names not mentioned).
NOTE: Peter's daughter Elizabeth "Betsy" Shull is my GGG Grandmother
who married April 1805, Muhlenberg Co. KY, Jacob Hunsinger and settled
in White Co. IL.
The pension states:
"That application for a pension for the said Anna Dorotha Shull has
been heretofore made and to the evidnce on file with said application,
and to the accompanying affidavit and record of the birth of the children
of the said Peter and Anna Dorotha Shull, which is the original record
taken from the family Bible, and which is in the hand-writing of said Peter
Shull deceased"
Pension papers of Anna Dorothea Shull say her daughter Mary M. Shull
married John Huntsucker.
Mary died prior to 1852 and after 1841, leaving heirs.
