JAMES LOCK

State of Illinois Wayne County
On 29th day of Aug. 1832,  James Lock applied for his pension.
(It was approved and inscribed on Roll of Ill. at rate of $20.00 per annum.   Cert. of pension issued on May -- 1833).

States he was living in Augusta County, Va., and last of Aug. or first of Sept. 1779 was drafted into service for 3 months. He engaged in no battles. James again entered service Sept. 1781 for another 3 months. Went to Yorktown till the taking of Cornwallis,  then was discharged.

James said he was born Aug. 26, 1761 Berkley County Va.. Was living Augusta County when first drafted, but lived in Berkley County when drafted again, and stayed there for 10 years after discharged.  He then moved to Mercer County Ky.  for 3yrs., then to Barren Co. KY. 3 yr., then to Smith Co. TN. for several yr..  Again moved  back to Barren Co. Ky. for 3 yr..  Last, he moved  to Wayne County where he since resided.

Stated his neighbors could testify to his character and service in Rev. War, named John Walker and George W. Farris.
