JOHN BOSWELL, miller, Wayne City, was born July 24, 1855, in Clay County, IL, his father, Matthew Boswell, is a native ofNorth Carolina.  He is yet living and farming in Clay County, to which he came in 1841. 

His father, the grandfather of our subject, Edward Boswell, was a native of Virginia, also a farmer by occupation, and died in Clay County. 

Lucy S. (Moore) Boswell is the mother of our subject; she is a native of North Carolina and yet living in Clay County.  She is a daughter of Joshua and Lucy (Algood) Moore, both natives of North Carolina. 

Our subject went to school in Clay County, IL, where he farmed.   On the 10th day of June, 1875, at the age of nineteen, he was joined in matrimony to Miss Mary E. Ellis, a native of Missouri, born November 15, 1859.  She is a daughter of Charles and Nancy (Carlisle) Ellis

Three children came to bless this happy union - Williams N., born March 2, 1876; he died of pneumonia, February 24, 1883; Viola E., born January 15, 1878; and Charles M., born April 7, 1882. 

Mr.and Mrs. Boswell are esteemed members of society, also of the Grange.  He is a member of the A.F. & A.M., Viola Lodge, No. 691.  In political matters, Mr. Boswell is a Democrat.
