Dear Mother and Father, He ask if there is any vacant land in Montague Co. also about water, crops, timber, Indians and buffalo. Letter written June 10th, 1874. From Chamberscreek, Ellis Co., TX. Closed saying we remain yours respectfully, Samuel and _____ Cates to Mary and Mr. Singletary.
(Samuel must be a son of Johnson Cates, and called Mary Angeline Mother even though she was his step-mother.)
