Michael was a farmer. He & brother Peter were members of Masonic Lodge No.204 in Flora, IL. In 1858, Michael was the Junior Steward and Peter was Junior Deacon.  Peter left for the California gold fields sometime in 1858 or early 1859, but Michael was listed as a member of the Lodge in 1859, 60, and 1862.  1862 was the last year that the Proceedings listed all members of all lodges because membership in IL. became so large. The Annual Reports prior to 1871 were lost in a fire.
