birth but  information was taken from his war papers, as he was born 11 Mar 1747 near Fredericktown, PA.   Questions go  unanswered when the mentioning of  Fredericktown, PA being his birthplace, of which was settled after 1747.  To make a long story short, it is thought to be that as a boy, James lived with his parents near Fredericktown, PA and they then moved to Rowan Co., NC, where more records were found.  As for his father, it is 'believed' was Isaac Garrison.  This was found  from researching various land deed, court records, tax papers, and more.  If Isaac was James' father, Isaac Garrison was born about 1710 and died in NC, and was married to a lady named Elizabeth.

James grew and married Esther Ann ROBERTS (aka Hester), daug of William and Rosannah Roberts of Curry Co., NC abt 1773.   I did not look for a  marriage bond of  the first child of  James and Esther, Rosannah, but from her headstone in the Richwood Cem., Eldred, IL, she was born 1774.  James and Esther lived  in NC in 1774, of which is 'assumed' to be where Roseannah was born..

According to James's pension papers, he lived in KY for about 12 years (wa more likely to be 14 years from the land documents), then he moved to Hamilton Co., IL (he lived near his sons James, David, and Samuel)  1817-1818.  Then he moved to Wayne Co., IL and lived there from 1818-1820, then moved to Greene Co., IL, where he died shortly around March 1841.

James and Esther Ann (ROBERTS) GARRISON had eight sons and five daughters.  I have information on each line but the ones complete to put here are linked, as followed:
