James VanDaveer Heidinger
(1882-1945)
Serving his
third term as Illinois Congressman from the 24th district, James VanDaveer Heidinger
(Republican), Fairfield, Illinois, died in Phoenix, Arizona, March 22,
1945
He was born
on a farm near Mount Erie, Wayne County, July 17, 1882, where he
resided until he was 25 years of age. Educated in the rural schools of
Wayne County and the Northern Illinois College of Law at Dixon,
graduating in 1908 with a degree of master of laws. He was
admitted to the Illinois bar in 1908. Engaged in the practice of law at
Fairfield.
Married Bessie Summers in
1911.
He was County Judge of Wayne County in 1914 and re-elected in 1918 and
1922. In 1928, he was a delegate to the Republican National Convention.
He served in the 77th and 78th Congresses. Mrs. Heidinger was with him
when he died. He is survived by his son, James S. Heidinger.
