HOMER RIGGS DIES
AFTER LONG ILLNESS
Well-Known Mt. Erie
Farmer and Stockman
Dies at His Elm River Home.
Homer C. Riggs, 65, passed away Tuesday morning of last week at his home in Elm River township following a long illness. Mr. Riggs was a well-known farmer and stockman in the Mt. Erie area.
Funeral services were held at the Brown church near Enterprise Friday afternoon, with Rev. H. A. Shelton and Rev. H. W. Coventry officiating. Burial was in Brown cemetery, with the funeral rites of the Masonic Order observed at the graveside.
Life Sketch
Homer Cloyd, son of Cicero and Jane Riggs, was born near Mt. Erie, May 4, 1886. He grew to manhood and has spent his life in and near the vicinity of his birth.
He was united in marriage with Gracie Ethel Secrest, April 18th, 1914. Three children were born to this union, two sons dying in infancy.
Was Active in Masons
He was an active member of the Mt. Erie Lodge No. 331 A. F. & A. M. since 1925 and served this Lodge faithfully and well so long as his health permitted. In the latter part of his life he accepted Christ as his Saviour.
He is survived by his faithful companion; one daughter, Mrs.Norva Daubs; one little granddaughter, Janet Faye Daubs, all of Mt. Erie; one brother, Alvin Riggs, of Cisne; three sisters, Mrs. Bertie Dalton of Salem, Mrs. Stella Crews of Arkansas City, Kansas and Mrs. Clara Kronmiller of Deaver, Wyo.
