OBITUARY |
Funeral services for Isham R. Simmons, former Cisne resident, were conducted from the Cisne Methodist church Thursday afternoon (today), with the Rev., Otis Fenton officiating, assisted by Rev. Clarence Nobbe.
Interment was in Cisne Cemetery. DeSelms Funeral Home was in charge. Gresham Post 603, American Legion, conducted military honors.
Mr. Simmons, 72, who spent most of his life on a farm near Cisne, died early Monday morning at Veterans Hospital in Dwight. He had made his home at Peoria the past eight or ten years. Isham, son of Charles A. and Sarah M. Simmons was born near Cisne, November 25th, 1890.
He entered the U.S. Army, June 26th, serving in Companyt H, 62nd Infantry, until his discharge in May 1919.
Early in life he was converted to Christ and united with the Cisne Methodist church. He later transferred his memebership to First Separate Baptist church in Peoria.
On June 22nd, 1952 he was married to Mattie Davis.
Surviving are his wife; four brothers, Preston Simmons, Geff; Charles Simmons, Fairfield; Clarence Simmons, Dixon; and Irvin Simmons, Akron, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Ralph Lambrich and Mrs. Loy Stopher, Cisne; two stepsons, Delbert Davis, Sandwich; and Arnold Davis, Farmington, Mo.; and three stepdaughters, Mrs. Ruby Plymale and Mrs. Sally Ann Ward, Peoria; and Mrs Annice Clayberg, Hannah City.
