Funeral Services for Well-Known Fairfield Man to Be Held Wednesday Afternoon
George C. Jones, 79, well-known Fairfield resident, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at Memorial hospital about 8:30 Sunday evening.
Mr. Jones, a resident here since 1933, was a native of Elm River township, where he farmed for many years. He made his home at 303 North First street.
Became Ill Saturday
Mr. Jones had been enjoying comparatively good health for his age and was up and around until Saturday when he became ill with a cold. He was treated by a local doctor and apparently was feeling better when he became very ill again about six o'clock Sunday night. He died soon after being admitted to Memorial hospital.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon from the First Christian church at 2:30 with Bro, Kenneth Brooks, the pastor, officiating, assisted by Elder John Lappin. Burial will be in Maple Hill cemetery.
George C., son of Mr. and Mrs. John G. Jones, was born May 5th, 1875, in Elm River township and operated a farm for many years, before moving to Fairfield in 1933. He continued his interest in farming until he retired several years ago.
He was married to Mary A. Clay in 1904 and one son, George Earl, was born to this union. Mrs. Jones died in 1938. He was married in July 1945 to Anna Vest. He was a member of the Fairfield First Christian church.
Surviving are his wife; son, George Earl, who lives on the family farm in Elm River township near Mt. Erie, and a half-sister, Sadie Craig, of Flora, and two granddaughters, Mary Ann and Janis Sue Jones, of Elm River township.
