Son of David and Naomi Weaver, was born February 11th, 1862 in Arrington township, Wayne county, Illinois; departed this life August 2nd, 1928 at Fairfield, Illinois, at the age of 66 years, 5 months and 21 days.

On March 20th, 1884, he was united in marriage with Nancy A. Dickey. To this union, eight children were born. David Arthur, Mrs. May Goodall, of Dennison, Texas, Mrs. Edna Cates, of Fairfield, Illinois; Mrs. Etta Bright, of Granite City, Illinois; Chloe, Edythe, Ida and an unnamed infant. David Arthur and Ida have also departed this life.

He professed a hope in Christ a number of years ago and united with the Arrington Prairie Baptist church. Later on he placed his membership with the Christian church at Fairfield. He lived a consistent Christian life and when the end was near assured his loved ones that all was well. He served his generation well and always in every position of responsibility he maintained his honor and integrity. Her served as highway commissioner and tax collector of Arrington township, supervisor of Grover township, eight years as sheriff of Wayne county and as chief clerk of the Southern Illinois Penitentiary, also as parole officer and at the time of his death was central committeeman of Grover township. He was not only one of the best known men in the county, but was well known in many parts of the state and wherever "Harve" was known he was respected and loved. Many messages of condolence have been received from different parts of the state. He exemplified the teaching of his Lord, when He said "I came not to be minister unto, but to minister" and so he delivered to help those who needed help. He will be greatly missed not only by his loved ones, but by the host of friends who will cherish sweet memories of his deeds of kindness. He leaves to mourn their loss a companion, five daughters and four grandchildren and three sisters, Matilda Whitson, of Onarga, Illinois, Cynthia Tibbs, Mrs. Own Galbraith of Glendale, California, and two brothers, Theodore and Frank of near Cisne.

Hundreds viewed the body and the floral offerings were profuse. Funeral services were conducted at the Christian church by Rev. Orville Hawkins.

The body was then taken to Maple Hill cemetery to await the resurrection morn.

For innumerable kindnesses shown and helpfulness rendered during the illness and at the death of our loved one, we wish to extend our sincerest appreciation.
