Son of Thomas Shehorn Was Killed When Street Car Hits Automobile He Was Driving.
Fred L. Shehorn, 28 years of age, died in the Cook county hospital, ad Chicago about eleven o'clock Sunday morning, following injuries received in an automobile wreck about eight o'clock that morning.
Mr. Shehorn, who was employed in a Berwyn garage as a mechanic, had [ ]rted with a friend, an elderly gentleman, in a Ford coupe to a gun [ ]ot in the vicinity of Chicago. He [ ] to cross the tracks of a street car, [ ] near his home town of Berwyn, [ ] his car was hit by a street car. [ ] left rear wheel of the car received [ ] wrecked, and Mr. Shehorn was [ ]ally injured. Broken ribs pierced [ ] lungs in several places, and death [ ] from internal hemorrhages some three hours later in the hospital where he was hastily taken. He was unconscious from the moment of injury.
An inquest was held, and the im- [ ] of the verdict was that the street car operator may have been responsible for the accident.
News of the accident did not reach [ ] father, Thomas Shehorn, in this city until about eight o'oclock Sunday [ ] Immediately he and Norman Heidinger, young Shehorn's father-in-law, set out in a car for Effingham where they caught a late train for Chicago. The body was held at the hospital until after the inquest, which [ ]ited the arrival of the father.
They brought the body to Mt. Vernon Tuesday morning where a hearse met the train.
Burial took place Wednesday in Maple Hill cemetery, following a funeral service at the First M.E. church.
Mrs. Shehorn was before her marriage, Miss Doris Heidinger. They have been married a year. Mr. And Mrs. Shehorn made their home in an apartment operated by Frank Witter, 3323 Wesley Avenue, Berwyn. Mrs. Witter, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Buhl and Mr. and Mrs. George Crews, who also live in Berwyn, drove down Tuesday to be present at the funeral.
