Well-known Fairfield woman, Mrs. Ruth Melrose, the wife of E. C. Melrose, died at 7:20 Saturday morning in Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Melrose was admitted to the hospital Thursday suffering from heart complications and a diabetic condition. Her family said she failed to respond to treatment.
Her death was unexpected.
Services Thursday
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Nale's Funeral Home in Fairfield, with Rev. B. R. Cummins officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 9 Monday night.
Mrs. Melrose was born in Fairfield Feb. 18, 1895, the daughter of the late Thomas H. and Alma (Patterson) Creighton. She was reared in Fairfield. Her father, for years was a prominent lawyer here.
On Sept. 12, 1917, she was married to Mr. Melrose. They have spent their entire lives in Fairfield.
Mr. Melrose, for years, has been an oil lease man for Duncan Leases and Royalties. Mrs. Melrose was a housewife. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
The Survivors
Surviving are her husband; two sons, Dan, of Fairfield; and Ed Jr., of Houston, Tex.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Margaret Harrison, of Grandville, O.; Mrs. Helen Pratt, of Riverside, Calif.; Mrs. Alice Willis, of Sarasota, Fla.; and Mrs. Mildred Coates, of Lafayette, Ind.
Preceding her in death were two brothers, T. H. Creighton, Jr., and Charles Richard Creighton; and one sister, Esther Wilson.
