Funeral services for William E. Jordan were held at the First Baptist church on Thursday afternoon by Rev. Lowell F. Matheney. Burial was in Koontz cemetery.
Mr. Jordan passed away Monday, January 3rd at a Carmi Nursing Home from a heart ailment. He had entered the home on Dec. 29th.
William Edward Jordan was born March 11, 1879 in Alexander county.
He was a member of the First Baptist church in Fairfield.
He was married on August 3, 1898 to Amanda Pernesia Rinehart, who died April 23, 1940. Six children, Ralph Jordan, of Denver, Colo., Mrs. Jake Backes, of Fairfield; Mrs. John Miller, of Detroit, Michigan; Mrs. Dale Kinder, of Rawlins, Wyo., Mrs. C. O. Turner, of Plainfield, Ind., and Mrs. Irene O’Barr, of Valperaiso, Indiana, were born to this union. He also reared as his own children one step-daughter, Mrs. Grace Crawford, of Fairfield, and one step-son, Otis Rinehart, of Indianapolis, Indiana.
On August 5, 1940 Mr. Jordan was married to Mrs. Flora Tice, who with three children, Curt Tice, Mrs. Ellen Shockley and Mrs. Opal Felty, all of Fairfield, survive him.
Also surviving are five brothers, Henry, Moses, Everett, Sidney Adolphus, Ira, all of Elco; two sisters, Mrs. Cynthia Heilig, of Anna, and Mrs. Elizabeth Keller, of Elco; 39 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
