Roy E. (Elmer) Whalen, 80, Rochelle, IL, died yesterday at his home. He was a native of Wayne county.

Funeral services will be at 9 am Saturday at the Unger Funeral Home in Rochelle. A graveside service will be held at 2 pm Sunday, with the Rev. Guy Roney officiating, at Mt. Zion (Farnsworth) cemetery south of Keenes. The Bluford Fneral Home will be in charge.

Mr. Whalen was born June 10, 1886 in Wayne county, the son of John and Mary (Maulding) Whalen.

He was a veteran of World War I.

Survivors: One brother, Ed Whalen of Rosana, IL; one sister, Mrs. Goldie Guthrie of Peoria and several nephes and nieces.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
