DIES AT HOSPITAL
Brother of Late Fred Whitson
Here Ill Short Time; Funeral
Wednesday
Rufus S. Whitson, 70, well known resident of Geff, died at Memorial hospital at 2:35 p.m. Sunday, after a short illness. He died within 20 minutes after being hospitalized.
He was a brother of the late Fred Whitson, Fairfield barber and Mr. Whitson was himself a barber in Illinois for many years.
Funeral Wednesday
Funeral services will be held at the Geff Christian church Wednesday afternoon at two o’clock, with Elder W. D. Crippin and Elder Max Bunting officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Valley cemetery. The body is at the Crippin Funeral Home, Cisne.
Rufus Stafford, son of John and Ellen Whitson, was born March 13, 1885, at Carlyle, Ill. He spent most of his life in Illinois.
Married in 1926
He was married to Fannie Beeson June 16, 1926, and two children were born to this union. His wife died July 31, 1947.
Surviving are a son, Roy Whitson, of Fairfield; a daughter, Phyllis, wife of Ted Chambliss, of Geff; one granddaughter, Kathy Sue Whitson; one sister, Mrs. Florence Gwin, of Laquay, Mo.; and one brother, Wilbert Whitson, of near Sims.
