Well Known Wayne City Woman
Mrs.  W.  O.  Allen  Dies

Mrs. Sybil Allen, 79, a retired bank employee of Wayne City, the wife of Otis Allen, chairman and past president of the First National Bank of Wayne City, died at 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, 1984 at Way-Fair Restorium.

Mrs. Allen was a resident of the nursing home for the past eight years.  She recently was a patient in Alexian Brothers Hospital at St. Louis, Mo., for treatment of a blockage of a blood vessl in the brain,  the Press was told.

Services Tuesday
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Richardson Funeral Home at Wayne City, with Bro. Oakley Miller officiating.  Burial will be in Thomason Cemetery at Wayne City.

Visitation for Mrs. Allen will be held after 6 p.m. Monday (tonight) at the funeral home.

Mrs. Allen was born at Sims Oct. 20, 1904, the daughter of B.A. and Stella Augusta “Gus” (Smith) Jones.  She attended music school in Centralia and taught piano several years in the Wayne City area early in her marriage.

She was married to W.O. (Otis) Allen in Sims at her home in 1923.

Mrs. Allen was employed for 27 years prior to her retirement as an assistant bank cashier with Wayne City First National Bank.

Mrs. Allen was a member of the Sims General Baptist Church.  She was pianist for many years and started playing for the congregation meetings when she was 15-years-old.

She was a member of the Wayne City Chapter of Eastern Star for over 59 years.  Mrs. Allen served as officer for many of the stations at various times.

The Survivors
Surviving are her husband, W.O. (Otis) Allen, of Wayne City; one son, J. Conrad Allen, of Wayne City; one brother, Fred Jones, of Sims; and a grandson, Michael Allen, of Wayne City.

Preceding her in death were two sisters.
