Son of James and Margaret Whitson was born in Wayne county, Illinois, September 9th , 1863. He grew to manhood and spent a great part of his life in the Round Prairie neighborhood.

He was united in marriage to Miss Nancy Green, November 25^th , 1883. To this union ten children were born; one son Glenn Whitson, of Fairfield and nine daughters, Mrs. Roy Brock, Geff; Mrs. Scott Nichols, Salen; Mrs. John Lauffer, Lincoln; Mrs. Howard Judd, Flora; Mrs. Jess Reynolds, Akron, Ohio; Mrs. Keneth Armstrong, Fairfield; Misses Beulah and Mildred, of Fairfield and Ethel who passed to the great beyond in early childhood.
