HOLD FINAL RITES FOR
MRS. T. F. CREIGHTON
Mother of Attorney C. W. Creighton
Dies at Jasper Home
Interment in Ebenezer Cemetery
Mrs. T. F. (Shaw) Creighton was given final rites at the family home in Jaspertownship Thursday morning, February 11. Rev. J. P. Mapson, minister of the First Presbyterian church of this city, was in charge of the services. Interment was in Ebenezer cemetery.
Mrs. Creighton, nee Mary Elizabeth Shaw, was the daughter of Thomas C. and Nancy J. Shaw, and was born near Crossville, Illinois, March 21, 1864, while the family was moving from New Harmony, Indiana, to Jasper township. A stop of two weeks was made at this place until the mother could complete the journey to Wayne county.
The deceased was the mother of seven children one of which, Josephine, preceded her in death. The husband and the other children, Chas. W. Creighton, of Fairfield; Mrs. John McLin, of Jacksonville; Mrs. H. B. Anfinson, of Chicago; Mrs. L. O. Wilson, of Detroit, Michigan; Mrs. Harry Fewkes, of Albion; and George M. Creighton, of Jacksonville, Illinois, survive. Four brothers, J. F. Shaw, of St. Francisville; T. C. Shaw, of Joliet, and Will and Edward Shaw of Rozel, Kansas, survive.
Mrs. Creighton spent more than forty-seven years of her life in the home and community where she died. Her life, with its years of faithful servive to her family and neighbors, is a record that does not need words to keep its memory awake in the hearts of all who knew her.
She was a faithful member of the Ebenezer Methodist church for the last forty-five years of her life. She transferred her membership from the Presbyterian church after her marriage in 1884.
Othe relatives and friends living at a distance to attend the funeral services were Miss Martha King, Walnut Ridge, Arkansas; H. B. Anfinson, of Chicago; J. C. McLin, of Jacksonville, Illinois, and Harvey Fewkes, of Albion.
