Jess Robbins, 52, LeRoy Merchant, Buried Thursday

Last rites for Jess Robbins, LeRoy grocer and meat market proprietor, were held at the First Methodist church Thursday afternoon. Business places throughout the city closed from 2 to 3 o'clock in respect to the departed merchant.

The Rev. A. M. Willet, former LeRoy pastor now of Gibson City, officiated at the service. He was assisted by the Rev. O. E. Martin. Mrs. Robert Burns sang, accompanied at the piano by Mrs Effie Huddlestone. Mrs. Wayne Weber presided at the organ.

Mr. Robbins died at 5:25 p. m. Saturday following an illness of about seven months. He was born in Wayne County on Oct. 15, 1893, son of Thomas and Lucinda Dickey Robbins. His first wife, Serepta Brewer, died eight years ago. They had five children, four of whom survive.

On Sept. 12, 1944 he married Bonnie Wasser at Vandalia. She survives.

Also surviving are the following sons and a daughter, Ernest R. Robbins of the U. S. army, Howard J. Robbins of the marine corps, Marvin R. Robbins of the navy, and Miss Helen Robbins, student at Illinois State Normal university; and one grandchild. Pallbearers were Kenneth Robbins, Clifford Robbins, Clyde Robbins, Cecil Robbins, James Robbins, Robert Brewer and Everett Robbins.

Women who assisted with the flowers were Mrs. Roy Bryan, Miss Janice Robbins, Mrs. Clifford Robbins, Mrs. Kenneth Robbins, Mrs. James Robbins and Mrs. Robert Brewer.
