ELON COLLEGE - Orda Sylvester Barnard, 89, of 302 W. Haggard Ave. died at 10 a.m. Saturday at his residence after several years of declining health.
 
A native of Wayne County, Ill, he was the husband of Mrs. Ila Graham Barnard and the son of the late Lloyd Sylvester and Catherine Spicer Barnard.  He was a retired High School Superintendent in Wayne City, Ill schools.  He was a former Mason, a member of the National Education Association and was a US Army Veteran of World War I.  He was alsoa member of the Union Ridge United Church of Christ.

Survivors other than the wife of the home include one daughter Mrs. Catherine Anne Faucette of  Rt 1, Elon College and two grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday at Union Ridge United Church of Christ by the Rev. John Settlemyre, pastor.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 7 until 9 p.m. tonight and at other times at the residence of the daughter Mrs. Catherine Faucette, Rt 1, NC 87 North, Elon College.  The body will remain at the funeral home until 30 minutes before the service.
