One of Wayne County's Last
World War I Veterans Dies

Uriah Rassler Peddicord, 94, of Cisne, died at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 1990, at Memorial Hospital from causes incident to his advanced age.

He was one of the last few remaining World War I veteran in Wayne County.

Mr. Peddicord was a retired farmer and prison guard, serving both at Menard in Chester and Vandalia prisions.

Rites Conducted

Funeral services were conducted Monday morning (today) from the Hosselton Funeral Home in Cisne, with Elder Stanley Grearhouse and Rev.  L.B. Howard officiating. Interment was in Cisne Cemetery, with full military rites at the graveside.

He was born Feb 13, 1896, at Sims, the son of Jasper and Jemima McCoy Peddicord.

On Oct. 8, 1932, he was married to Irene Schumann at Fairfield. She passed away Sept. 29, 1979.

He was a member of the Fairfield American Legion.

Preceding him in death were his wife, his parents, three brothers and three sisters.

The Survivors

Surviving are one son, David, of Mechanicsville, Va.; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.
