WILLIAM JASPER PEDDICORD

William Jasper, son of Caleb and Jemima Peddicord was born in Kentucky,  January 2, 1850.   At the age of twelve years, he moved with his parents to Indiana, where he grew to manhood.  He removed to Illinois in 1875 and located in Wayne county, where he has made his home since that time.   For many years, he has lived in Berry township, where he was one of the substantial farmers of this section of the county.   He was highly esteemed by his friends and neighbors for his many splendid traits of character.  He was quiet and reserved in his nature and made friends with all who knew him.  While he was never identified with any church he was always a loyal supporter of the church and has expressed himself as being ready to meet his God.

He was united in marriage in 1877 with Jemima McCoy.  Seven children were born to this union; one daughter, Nana Mae, died at the age of five years and one son, Frank, died in May 1925.   His companion passsed away seven years ago and since that time he has made his home with his children.

For several years he has been in poor health and following a few days of acute illness, he passed peacefully away, at the home of his son, Amos, early Sunday morning, November 23, 1930, age 80 years, 10 months and 21 days.

He is survived by three sons; Alfred of Cisne, Amos of Wayne City, and Rassler of Akron, Ohio; two daughters, Ollie Shehorn of Cisne and Sara Lea Dickey of Belleville, three daughters-in-law and two sons-in-law, two brothers; Joshua of Opdyke and Pigmon of eyworth, one sister, Artelia Wilton of Huey, thirteen grandchildren, two  great-grandchildren, a host of other relatives and a large circle of neighbors and friends who are sad because of his passing.

Funeral services were conducted from the Bailey Church, at eleven o¹clock, Monday morning, by Rev. E.H. Cissna of Hutsonville.   Interment was in the cemetery near by.
