Joseph Kinney Copeland was born in Greggs county, Illinois, Sept. 13, 1867 and departed this life April 8, 1928, at the age of 61 years, 5 months and 5 days.
In 1868 his parents moved to Jasper county, Missouri. Here he lived until he was seventeen years of age when he went to California. Here he cared for his mother and brothers, his father having passed away some years earlier.
On February 27, 1899, he was joined in marriage to Minnie Jannett, she and an infant son passing away in 1906. He then went back to Fairfield, Illinois where he was married to Laura Sunderland in 1908. This couple left Illinois and came to a ranch at Colorado Springs in 1917. One year later they moved to Burlington, Colorado, where they have made their home until the time of his departure. Here he followed the carpenter’s trade for some time and was considered a good and efficient workman.
In 1915 he professed a definite faith in Jesus Christ and joined the: Cunberland Presbyterian Church, of which body he remained a member until the time of his death.
He leaves a wife, one brother, Roy Copeland of San Jacinto, California; four half-brothers and two step children, Glenn Sunderland of Newton, Ill., and Mrs Pearl Connor of Burlington, Colorado, as well as a large number of acquaintances and friends.
