Theodore Floyd Wilson
son of James and Caroline Wilson was born in Wayne county, Illinois, June 19th, 1875 and was one of nine children. His entire life has been spent in the county of his birth. Having received his education in the country school near his old home and Hayward College, Fairfleld, Ill., he took up his life work as a farmer and throughout life has been one of Wayne county’s most progressive farmers and stock raisers.
He was united in marriage to Miss Stella Crews in October 1902. She died in 1906. To this union were born four children, three of whom died infancy, leaving one boy, Carol, age 15, who is at home.
On November 30th, 1907 he was married to Kate McDowell, of Mount Erie township, who with their two boys, Georgie and William survives. His father and two sisters, Lou and Rose, preceded him to the life beyond. He leaves besides his wife and three children, an aged mother, three brothers and three sisters, vis: Rev Geo. Wilson, a minister in the Presbyterian church now located near Petersburg. III; Case Wilson, with whom his mother resides on the home place and Shields Wilson who also lives on a farm near by; Mrs. Jennie Hindman, of Centralia, Ill; Mrs. Mollie Bullock, of Blanchard, Iowa, and Mrs. Blanche Wilson of Chicago, all of whom were present at the funeral. He was converted and united with the church at Old Union about four years ago. Later he transferred his membership to the Cumberland Presbyterian church at Fairfield and remained a member until death.
Mr. Wilson has ever been a very energetic man, always carrying his own share of life's work and helping many others with theirs. The family moved to Fairfield about three years ago, but he did not retire for, until within a week of his death, he carried on his work and business although being in very poor health for more than a year. He was confined to his bed only a few days and was lovingly cared for by his family and two sisters, Mrs. Bullock and Mrs. Hindman until death released him Wednesday morning, September 4th 1918, aged 43 years, 2 months and 13 days. The high esteem in which he was held in the city and surrounding community was shown by the large assemblage of people who attended his funeral. Besides his many relatives he leaves a host of friends who mourn their loss.
His funeral was held at the residence on last Friday afternoon, Sept. 6th, conducted by Rev. John A. McLane, his former pastor, now at Bethany, Ill., assisted by Rev. J. W. Flint, pastor of the M. E church and Rev. G. W. May of the C. P. church, Burnt Prairie, Ill., after which the remains were laid to rest in Maple Hill cemetery.
