OBITUARY

Delmar Berl Finley
1923-1933

Delmar Finley, the nine year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Finley, of southern Lamard township passed away Wednesday 1 p.m. June 21st after suffering from strangulated intestines.  He had been ill only a few days. (4 1/2)

Funeral services were conducted at Mt. Olivet Church at ten o'clock Friday morning by Elder John Samford assisted by Rev. W. E. Courtright.  Burial was in the Bovee cemetery.

Delmar Berl, son of Roy J. and Lola Finley was born, Sept. 13, 1923, and after only a few days illness, departed this life at the age of 9 years, 9 months, and 8 days.

Delmar was of a very bright and sunshiny disposition and made friends wherever he went among both children and older persons.  He was especially interested in Sunday school work, and was always careful to be able to recite from memory the golden text of each lesson, as well as the memory verse.  He had attended Sunday School every Sunday for a year ending Sunday, June 18,  when he had to be carried to the church, being unable to get there by his own efforts.

Although he lay on a pillow during the discussion of the lesson, he was happy to know that he had completed a successful year's attendance for which he received a certificate signed by the county president and the county secretary.

He leaves to mourn their loss his father and nmother, his brother, Maurice, his sister, Lyndal, Grandfather and Grandmother Young, three uncles, five aunts, seventeen cousins and many other relatives and friends.

The funeral was held at the Mt. Olivet church at 10 o'clock Friday mroning, June 23, conducted by Rev. J. F. Samford, assisted by Rev. W. E. Courtright.
Interment was in the Bovee cemetery.  the large crown which attended the funeral and the beautiful flora offerings showed the respect of the community for the deceased.

The pallbearers were Paul Cravens, Floyd Cravens, Ray McNeil, James McNeil, Millard McNeil and Joe White.  The flower girls were Jesse Olive Finley, Clarice Young, Estella Redd, Lorene Gibson, Rober McNeil and Irene Burroughs.
