Death of
Wilson Henderson

Wilson Henderson, a civil war veteran, and good citizen of Fairfield, passed away last Saturday evening, January 11. Death was the result of infirmities of age, accentuated by a cancer on his ear, from which he has suffered for several years.  He was, however, confined to his bed but a few days.

He served his country during the civil war as a good soldier, and has lived a christian life, being a member and elder of the Cumberland Presbyterrian church of this city.

Soon after the war he was married to Miss Lucinda Neel, to whom two children  were  born, Mrs. Laura Copeland of Burlington, Colorado and James who died in infancy. He was bereft of his first wife and was later married to Mrs. Naney C. Carter, who survives him. Her care and attention to her aged husband were fine examples of a wife's devotion.

Mr Henderson was born September 25th, 1843, and was a member of the 98th Illinois volunteers in the civil war.

Brief funeral services were held at the home Saturday morning on South East Sixth street, by Rev. S. E. Ragland, pastor of the C. P. church, after which the remains were taken to Union where a service was also held by Rev. Ragland. The burial was in the cemetery at that place, Mondny afternoon
