Mrs. Abraham Land passed away suddenly Saturday morning at 4:00am, of heart failure. Prior to this she had been in ill health for a couple of weeks.
Narcissus Goodwin Crabtree was born in White County, Illinois, April 13, 1850; died at Ellery, ILL., June 17th, 1916, age 66 years, 2 months and 4 days.
She professed faith in Christ at the early age of 13 and united with the Christian church at Seven Mile. To the end of life she clung to her early teachings of the bible.
She was united in marriage to Abraham Land, October 13, 1867. To this union were born ten children, 5 sons and 5 daughters namely, L.W. Land, Keevil, Ark., James M., who died October 1903; B.N. and F.H., of Fairfield, Ill., W.M. of Ellery, Ill; Mrs. Lulu V. Clifford, of New Haven, Ill., Martha J. Daniels, Flora, Ill.; Mrs. Rosa T. Zuber, Fairfield, Ill.; Mrs. Amanda E. Singletary, of Alcoa, Ark.; and Mrs. Mary F. Gray, who died May 30, 1914. She leaves to mourn her loss an aged husband, three half sisters, one half brother and twenty grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at Victory by Rev. Mahlon Smith, of Sims. Floral emblems were varied and profuse. Loving hands laid the remains to rest in the Bovee cemetery near by, there to await the resurrection morn.
