John D. Jones, 92, died Wednesday morning at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro.

A retired farmer, Mr. Jones was the father of Fairfield oil man Ivan R. Jones, Mrs. Fern Gregg at Goreville and Mrs. Doris Marshall at Johnsonville.

His death was attributed to causes incident to his advanced age.

Mr. Jones had resided at the Enfield Life Care Center a short time and before that lived in the Fairfield High Rise.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday from Nale’s Funeral Home, with Rev. Dwight Rodgers officiating. Burial will be in Bailey cemetery near Wayne City. Visitation will be 6:30 to 8:30 Friday evening at the funeral home.

He was born in Wayne County Jan 2, 1898, the son of Andrew J. and Sarah K. Singleterry Jones.

Mr. Jones was married to the former Gertrude Barnard.

Surviving are his wife of the Enfield Life Care Center; one son, Ivan R. Jones; two daughters, Mrs. Fern Gregg; and Mrs. Doris Marshall; one brother Ernest; one sister, Mrs. Edith Green; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
