Mrs. Isabelle Humphrey, 82, widow of the late Levi Humphrey, passed away Friday at the home of her daughter Mrs. T. B. Wood, in southwest Fairfield. She had been in declining health for some time suffering with the infirmities of advanced age.
Isabelle, daughter of William and Mary Sims, was born near Covington, Wayne County, March 4, 1861 and passed away at the age of 82 years, eleven months and 21 days. She was the youngest of eight children, all of whom preceded her in death.
In 1880 she married Posey Overall, of Covington, who passed away in September 1887. To this union four daughters were born, Lillian Wood, Fairfield; Bessie Sampson, Hammond Ind; Ada Heflin, deceased; and Pearl Baringer, Harvey.
She later married Levi Humphrey in Fairfield and to this union was born one son, Leo Franklin, who died in infancy. The second union was broken by the death of her companion February 1, 1920.
Besides the three daughters, she leaves one stepson, Wm. Humphrey, Indianapolis, Ind; eighteen grandchildren, forty-one great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
She united with the Oak Valley Baptist church early in life and remained a faithful Christian. Fairfield always was home to her, although she spent some time at the homes of her daughters in other cities. During the last five years, preceding her serious illness, she resided with her sister-in-law, Mrs. Eva Sims in Fairfield.
Among those from a distance attending the funeralwere Mrs. and Mrs. Roy Barringer, of Harvey.
