MRS. JOHN R. JONES
DIES NEAR MT. ERIE

Well-Known Mt. Erie Township Matron Had Been Ill for More Than One Year;

She Was 73 Mrs. Laura Elizabeth Jones, wife of John R. Jones, passed away Wednesday morning April 16th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sadie Shelton, near Mt. Erie. Mrs. Jones had been ill the past year and was taken to the Olney hospital for treatment, later returning to her daughter's.

Funeral services were held at the Mt. Erie Methodist church Friday afternoon by Elder F. M. Lappin, of Wayne City, assisted by Elder RusselStorer.  Burial was in Maple Hill cemetery, Fairfield.

Laura Elizabeth Jones, daughter of Douglas and Nancy Shuster, was born in White county, Tennessee, June 14th, 1867. She was aged 73 years, ten months and two days. She was married to John R. Jones November 22nd, 1891 at Walling, Tennessee, and to this union four children were born, three sons and one daughter.

Mrs Jones and her husband spent the first ten years of their marriage in Tennessee, where all of their children were born. They moved to Illinois in 1901 and settled on a farm near Mt. Erie where they spent the rest of their life. She was converted many years ago and was a member of the Methodist Church at Mt. Erie. She was a kind neighbor and a faithful companion and mother.

Surviving are her aged companion, her four children, James L? Jones, of Fairfield; Robert of Geff; Alfred of Mt. Erie; and Mrs. Sadie Shelton of Mt. Erie; one brother, J. F. Shuster, and two sisters, Mrs. Eliza Crocker and Miss Alice Shuster, all of Walling, Tennessee; and five grandchildren, Dorothy Jean, Reba, Marcella, Kenneth and Neal. Her son-in-law, Ray Shelton, and her parents and two sisters preceded her in death. Death that claims each mortal Shall not fore'er be victor in the strife; For there is Writ across the ___ ___ portal "I am the resurrection and the life.
