Albert Hale, son of Jesse A. and Missouri F. Hale , was born in Wayne county, Illinois, August 9, 1896; departed this life September 23rd, 1918, age 22 years, 1 month and 14 days. He leaves to mourn his loss father, mother, five brothers, Jasper Walter, George, Charles and Jesse and four sisters, Myrtle, Esther, Dorsie and Marie, two little sisters preceding him in infancy, besides two aged grandmothers living and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his loss. But our loss is his gain, because he called his nurse and doctor to his bedside and told them to tell his mother that “he was prepared to go whenever his Lord called him.”
Albert was an obedient, kind and loving boy, was loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed in the home and his circle of acquaintances. He was so kind to his father and mother.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy, July 22, 1918, was examined at Mt. Vernon, Ill., July 24th and left for the Great Lakes Naval Training Station. He was taken sick September 15th and taken to the Main Hospital the evening of the 20th and remained there until his death.
He was gone from home just two months to a day. Left home hale and hearty and brought back a corpse.
Funeral services were conducted from the home, by Rev. John Rush, assisted by Rev. Cisne, and burial in the Hale cemetery.
