DIES AT OLNEY
Active School Man
Succumbs Saturday
Oliver A. Barr, a former teacher in the schools of Wayne county, died Saturday in the Olney Sanitarium. He was 77 years, five months and 18 days old.
Mr. Barr was born in Wayne county, near Wayne City, August 7, 1869, the son of Abraham and Kitsy Stevens Barr.
He was united in marriage to Hannah Jane Hilliard, September 6, 1893. She passed away October 1, 1934. To this union one daughter, Mary Blanch, was born. A nephew, Charles W. Clark, made his home with them for several years.
Mr. Barr was a teacher in the public schools of Wayne and Jefferson counties for 35 years. He was a member of the Geff Methodist church and, as long as health permitted, was active in county Sunday School work for several years. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen Lodge.
He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Roy L. Wilson, with whom he had made his home for the last several years; four grandsons, Roy, Frank, Lowell and Tommie Wilson; neices; nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist church at Geff by Rev. W.E. Courtright and Rev. Garrett H. Phillips, Monday afternoon at one o’clock. Interment was in the Carien cemetery.
