W.B. Simmons, prominent Cisne merchant for the past 31 years passed away Friday morning. On Monday morning, May 24th, he suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and l;apsed into a coma, from which he never rallied.
William Boyd Simmons, son of Isham and Gilla Simmons, was born in Wayne County, Illinois, September 10, 1867, and passed away at his home in Cisne, Illinois, May 28, 1943, at the age of 75 years, eight months and 18 days. Thirty-one years ago he and his wife bought the store in Cisne which they have operated since that time.
About 45 years ago he was converted and joined the Indian Prairie Baptist Church under the ministry of Rev. Cal Richardson. In February, 1920, he and his wife transferred their membership to the Methodist Church in Cisne, which church he loved and supported until his passing on to his reward.
He loved his home and family, and was never happier than when doing something for his loved ones.
He leaves to mourn his departure, his devoted wife who had been his beloved companion for a little more than fifty years; two daughters, Mrs. Eva Sullivan, of St. Louis, Mo., and Mrs. Fay Mann of Flora; four grandchildren, Roy Glen and Robert Glen Simmons, Mrs. Lorraine Vogel, and Mary Ann Mann; two brothers, Abe Simmons of Cisne and J.S. Simmons of Hardin, Montana, and one sister, Mrs. Della Munkres of Buffalo, Wyoming; besides other relatives and a host of friends.
