VIRGIL  OTIS  LAMBERT
Killed in Actio

Virgil Otis Lambert, 26, Seaman Second Class, was killed in action in the South Pacific, according to word received from the Navy Department by his wife, Mrs. Gladys McDevitt Lambert, 415 N. Vermillion St., Pontiac, Ill.

He entered service June 2, 1944 and recieved Basic training at Great Lakes, Ill., leaving for overseas in August. Prior to entering the service he worked for E.I. DuPont at Kankakee. He grew to manhood in Wayne County.

Born August 26, 1918 at Holly, Illinois, he was the son of Charles and Susan Rutherford Lambert of Rinard, Illinois. He was married March 23, 1940 to Gladys McDevitt at Chenoa, Illinois.

Surviving besides his wife and his parents are two children, Shirley age 4 years and Sandra age 1 1/2 years, also three brothers and two sisters, namely, Katherine Greenwood, Flora, Ill; Vera Lambert, Fairfield; Orin of Fairfield and Glenn of Cortland, Illinois and Roy serving with the Armed Forces in Germany. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. He was a member of Pontiac Unit of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
