Funeral services for Miss Mary Roberts, 58, former Fairfield resident, were held this afternoon at Nale's Funeral Home. The Rev, William M. Henderson, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiated and burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Miss Roberts died about noon Monday in an ambulance enroute from an Urbana hospital to the home of her brother, Charles E. Roberts, at St. Charles, Mo. She had been in the hospital for about two weeks receiving treatment for cancer.
She was born Oct. 30, 1900, in Wayne County, the daughter of Frank E. and Sarah Phelps Roberts. For several years, Miss Roberts had been librarian at the University of Illinois, Champaign. Previous to that time, she was a teacher at the Fairfield Community High School. Surviving are her mother; one sister, Mrs. Clarence Osha of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; three brothers, Frank E., Jr., of Milwaukee, Charles E. of St. Charles and Howard C. of Urbana.

MISS MARY ROBERTS DIES FROM CANCER
Was University of Illinois Library Employee For Past Twenty-Five Years. Miss Mary S. Roberts, 58, former Fairfield resident and daughter of Mrs. Frank E. Roberts here, died Monday as she was being moved by ambulance from an Urbana hospital to the home of a brother in St. Charles, Mo. Her death, which occurred near Tuscola, was from cancer. She had been in failing health since the first of the year.
Miss Roberts had been employed at the University of Illinois library in Urbana for the past 25 years. Funeral services were held from Nales Funeral Home Thursday afternoon (today), with Rev. William Henderson officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Mary S., daughter of Frank and Sarah Phelps Roberts, was born
at Mt. Erie October 30th, 1900. She spent her early life in that community
and later lived in Fairfield before moving to Urbana. She was a member
of the Fairfield First Methodist church. List of
Survivors Surviving are her mother, Mrs. Sarah Roberts, of 308
South East Sixth Street; three brothers, Dr. Howard Creighton Roberts,
of Urbana; Charles E. of St. Charles, Mo.; anf Frank E. Roberts,
of Milwaukee, Wis.; and one sister, Mrs. Esther Osha, of Ft. Wayne,
Indiana. Her father, former Wayne County Highway Superintendent, died in
1948.
