September 1927
Charles Wesley, eldest son of Charles and Telia Squire, was born in Cisne, July 24, 1903. He grew to manhood in the community of his birth and has considered this his home at all times. His work has called him elsewhere at times and for some time he lived in Indiana, where he was engaged in the timber and milling business.
He was united in marriage with Katie Austin, January 9, 1922. This union was blessed with two children, one daughter, Glenda Lee, and one son, Bobby Dean.
For the past three years he has been continually under medical care. On Tuesday morning, September 20th, while working with a threshing crew on the farm of L.G. Brennan, he was overtaken by the Grim Reaper and the Spirit took its flight. At the time of his death he was twenty-four years one month and twenty-six days of age.
“Happy” as he was familiarly knoen by his friends, was of a congenial disposition and was thoroughly reliable and trustworthy in his work. His greatest delight was in the operation of machinery and his life ended at his post of duty.
He is survived by his companion, two children, father, mother, one brother and three sisters; who with a host of other relatives and friends mourn his passing.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon, September 21, at 2:30 o’clock from the residence by W.D. Crippin. Interment was in the Cisne cemetery. Many beautiful flowers spoke eloquently of the esteem in which the family are held by the community.
