July 1945
Evelyn LaJune Orr
Evelyn LaJune, daughter of James Asa and Minnie Levi Orr was born near Geff, Illinois, February 21, 1917 and departed this life at Evansville, Ind., July 24, 1945, age 28 years, 5 months and 3 days.
She spent most of her life at Fairfield, where she had many friends. LaJune was well liked by everyone. She always thought of helping others before herself.
For the past three and one-half years she had been a patient at the Boehne Hospital in Evansville and although she fought a losing battle to regain her health, she never lost faith. Her extreme courage and will to live could have only come through the help of God. Much of the time she was very sick but she could always smile.
She professed faith in Christ at an early age and joined the Elm River Baptist church where she remained a member until death.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her father, now residing at Seattle, Wash.; three brothers, Carroll, a patient at the Harmon General Hospital, Longview Tex.; Forrest, serving with the 69th Infantry Division in Germany; James, of Grayville, and many other relatives and friends. Her mother and one sister, Wanda Francis, have preceded her in death.
