Mrs. Mary Emma Morris, wife of the late Valentine Morris, passed away at the Walker home near Geff, last Thursday, at 3:30 p.m., July 14, 1932, at the age of 70 years, 9 months and 24 days, after suffering from cancer for several years.
Funeral services were conducted at the home by Rev. Henson, Saturday, July 16 at 2 p.m. Burial was in the Lappin cemetery.
Mary Emma Walker, daughter of Henry P. and Frances Walker, was born in Edwards county Illinois, September 20, 1861; passed away at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, July 14, 1932, at the family home west of Geff, aged 70 years, 9 months and 24 days. She was united in marriage to Valentine Morris on June 19, 1881. Her companion preceded her in death December 22, 1922. To this union were born eight children, six boys and two girls, namely: Edgar, Melvin, Allen, Sherman, Everett, and Mrs. Edith Taylor all living near her home. Also, a step-daughter, Mrs. Stella Legg, of Wayne City, Ill. Ralph preceded her November 9, 1924, and Mary, wife of Ira Green, November 17, 1919. She also leaves to mourn their loss twenty-one grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren and four great grandchildren, one brother, Chas. Walker, two sisters, Mrs. Tillie White and Mrs. Lou Pike, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
At an early age, she gave her heart to Christ and became a member of the Latter Day Saint’s church at Dry Fork Branch, to which she remained faithful during her life. She was always at her place in church and Sunday School as long as the church was there.
Her life has been one of service and her going has left an empty place in our hearts that can never be filled. Her work on earht is finished, but her influance will live on.
Funeral services at the home by Rev. Henson, Saturday at 2 p.m., burial in Lappin cemetery.
