Ida Jane, the daughter of William and Emily Harlan was born in Berry township, Wayne county, Illinois on April 9, 1873 and after many months of illness departed this life at the Mt. Vernon Hospital on July 21, 1941 at the age of 68 years, 3 months and 12 days.
On April 15, 1897 she was united in marriage to James Manahan. To this union ten children Mrs. Lula Shehorn, Johnsonville, Ill, Chas, Carroll, of E. Alton, George Edward, of Fairfield, Clayton, of Johnsonville, Hugh, of Hartford, Floyd, of Johnsonville, Lewis, of East Alton, and Dessie Lowe, of East Alton. T
wo having preceded her in death, she leaves to mourn her departure her husband, eight children, twenty-one grand children, one great-grandchild and a host of relatives and friends.
Early in life she professed faith in Christ and was united with the Hopewell Methodist church then with her family later united with the Arrington Prairie Missionary Baptist and in her late years joined the General Baptist at Bailey where she remained a devoted member until her passing from our midst.
She was known as a loving wife and mother.

That she is dead - she is just away!
With a cheery smile and a wave of the hand
She has wondered in to an unknown land.
