July 1923
Agnes Catherine Long, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clem Long, was born March 8, 1894, near Cisne, Ill. She grew to womanhood in this community, where she was held in high esteem by all who knew her.
She was united in marriage with Marion L. Faverty of Iowa, March 4, 1918 and at once went with her husband to make her home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, later moving to Boone where on January 16, 1919, a little daughter, Myra Katherine , came to bless their home. About two years later she moved to Clinton, where she made her home until death came very suddenly to call her hence. She passed away very unexpectedly at her home in her husband’s arms on Thursday morning, July 26, 1923 at 7 o’clock a.m., at the age of 29 years, 4 months and 18 days.
Early in life she confessed her faith in Christ as her Savior and united with the Cisne Christian church of which she was a member until death.
She was a member of the Magi Chapter No. 139 of O.E.S. of Boone, Iowa, also of the G.I.A. of the B. of L.E. of Clinton.
Besides her husband and little daughter she is survived by her parents, six sisters, Mrs. Babel Whitson, of Onarga, Ill., Mrs. Martha Case of Cisne,; Mrs. Edna Porter of Lostanta; Mrs. Mary McDaniels of Pontiac, Mrs. Florence Moore of Boone, Iowa, and Mrs. Ruth Simmons of Cisne and two brothers, Jeffie Long of Gilbert, Ark., and Gilbert of Cisne and a grandmother, Mrs. Fannie Guyot of Flora, Ill., who with a host of other relatives and loving friends will mourn her untimely death.
Short funeral services were conducted by the O.E.S. at their home in Clinton, Iowa, Friday afternoon.
Many beautiful floral offerings accompanied the body to Cisne and spoke eloquently of the esteem in which she and her husband were held in their home.
Funeral services were conducted at the Christian church in Cisne, Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock by Eld. W.D. Crippin.
A great host of relatives and friends attended the services and with many beautiful floral offerings spoke silently of their esteem for Agnes and of their sympathy for the husband and little daughter and the father and mother, brothers and sister.
