KINZIE SUNDERLAND
DIES SUDDENLY

Well-Known Fairfield Man
Not previously Ill
Suffered Fatal Blood Clot on Heart

J. Kinzie Sunderland, 44, one of this community's well-known residents, died suddenly late Saturday morning of a blood clot on his heart.

Mr. Sunderland had been enjoying good health ...

He arose Saturday morning, had been to the post office and had called on two or three customers after which he returned home.  He helped his  wife, the former Marvie Huffaker, clean the house and mentioned that he planned to clean the car and then they would drive over to Mt. Vernon.  He said that he  was going to rest a few minutes first, however.

Found Him Dead
Mr. Sunderland went to his bedroom to lie down, playing for a moment with his daughter, Sharon.  About ten minutes later Mrs. Sunderland came into the room and found him dead.

Coroner Tom McClintock conducted an inquiry and following an autopsy death was attributed to the blood clot on his heart.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon (today) at four o'clock from Nales Funeral Home with Rev. Bayne Wilson, of Mt. Vernon, officiating.  Burial will be in the Maple Hill cemetery.

A lifelong Methodist, Mr. Melrose was a member of the Fairfield Elks and the Masonic Lodge.

The Survivors

Among survivors are two sons, Dan. C.  and Edward C. Melrose, one sister, Caro Webber,  five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, two brothers and one infant daughter.
