John Downer, 64, Builder Here
Dies After Coronary

John Downer, Sr., age 64, a long-time Fairfield builder, died at 9:15 Sunday morning at the hospital in Flora.

Rites Wednesday

The body was taken to the Dixon-Johnson funeral home where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Bro. Carroll Kakac in charge. Burial will follow in Maple Hill cemetery. Visitation is after 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Mr. Downer was born northeast of Geff on December 11, 1912, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Downer.

During the later years of his life, he worked for his son, John Downer, Jr., as a builder in the Fairfield area. ... (health)

On March 22, 1934, he was married to Mary Wilson, of Wayne county. Since 1944 they had made their home in Geff.

Surviving are the widow; one son, John Downer, Jr., one sister, Mrs. Sarah Murphy, a half brother, Charles, one grandson and two granddaughters.

A brother, Melvin Downer, preceded him in death.
