Rites For Rev. Laughlin
Are Held At Cisne

Funeral services for Rev. George K. Laughlin, 43, of Dover, Tenn., a former Rinard resident, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday (today) at Hosselton Funeral Home in Cisne, with Rev. Morgan Davis and Rev. George Newton officiating.  Burial was in Johnsonville Cemetery at Johnsonville.

Rev. Laughlin died at 1:20 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 1986, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tenn., of cancer.  He was ill for some time, but only hospitalized for two weeks.

Active in Associations

Rev. Laughlin was pastor of Dyers Creek First Church of God at Dover since 1982.  His first pastorate was at Olney.  He later served at Pleasant Ridge, Ky., and Philadelphia, Miss.  While serving in Philadelphia, he was voted most outstanding leader in Meshoba County.  He served as Secretary of the state Mississippi Ministerial Association.  While living in Philadelphia, he was a member of the local Ministerial Association and president of the Toastmasters Club.  He also held membership in the Ministerial Associations locally while living in Kentucky, Florida, and Tennessee.

Rev. Laughlin was born in Keith township, Wayne county, July 6, 1942, the son of William W. and Wilma Towns Laughlin.  He graduated from Flora High School in 1960 and Warner Southern College in Lake Wales, Fla., in 1981.

He married the former Georgia Ann Gill in ...,  Mar. 24, 1961.

While living in this area he was employed at various times at the shoe factory and Valley Steel Company in Flora and at AMF in Olney.

The Survivors

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Georgia Ann Gill,  his mother, Mrs. Wilma Laughlin, two sons, Gary and Greg, one daughter, Ginger Laughlin, one brother, William E. Laughlin and three sisters, Mrs. Rudy (Rosie) Bonan, Mrs. Robert (Eunice) Golden,  and Mrs. Tony (Betty) Colclasure.

He was preceded in death by his father.
